On Sunday, May 22nd, at the Muay Thai Rising show in Darlington, we had 3 of our own fighting. First, we had 8-year-old Edward Taylor in an exhibition match against Luca from Tobin’s gym. He did very well and showed all the techniques we’ve been working on with him.
Next, we had 10-year-old Roo Kirwan. This was Roo’s first competitive fight against Millie from SBG. Roo stepped up to the challenge, fighting five hard rounds against a much taller and heavier opponent. Roo landed big kicks and fast punches nonstop for the duration of the fight. In the end, Roo lost on points in a very close contest. Roo was back in the gym the next day, working hard for the next one.
Last but not least, we had Darren James, Instinct’s Apprentis coach. This was his 4th fight. After a slow 1st round, he picked up the pace, sweeping his opponent in rounds 2 and 3. He continued to fight strong, landing big punches on his opponent, but could not get the finish. After five hard rounds, Darren won on points against a very durable opponent from MAS.
It was a great day for Instinct Martial Arts to showcase our skills. Thank you to everyone who came to watch and cheered on. Onto the next one
